When the Savior Became the Monster

"Once the anesthetic is administered, you won't feel a thing." Angela Woodward wore a mask, the tray in her hand laden with cold instruments. She leaned forward, her eyes curving into a gentle arc. "Mr. Ernest said he wanted me to personally see you off on your final journey." I lay on the operating table, my entire body trembling with cold. Ernest Davidson's muffled voice drifted through the crack in the door from the corridor. "She's just a toy—one I grew tired of long ago." Angela Woodward's fingers traced over my lower abdomen, a low laugh murmuring, "Did you hear that?" The clinking of metal instruments sent a shiver through me. She picked up the syringe, the needle's tip gleaming with a chilling light. "Don't be afraid. It'll be over soon." She leaned close to my ear, her breath warm against my skin.

Chapter 1 of "When the Savior Became the Monster"

The cold corridor lights stretched my shadow out long and thin. This was Ernest Davidson's third time bringing me to this private hospital. Each visit was nearly identical—the scent of disinfectant creeping into my nostrils, stabbing at my temples until they throbbed. The nurse walked over holding the pre-operative consent form, her voice gentle yet formulaic. I took the form, my fingertips icy cold, barely able to hold the pen steady. Ernest Davidson stood beside me, hands shoved in his suit pockets, his expression indifferent. "I'm going to the restroom." He left behind a sentence, then turned and pushed the door open as he exited. The door wasn't shut tight, leaving a narrow gap. At first, I didn't notice, my gaze fixed blankly on the densely packed words on the form. Until his voice drifted through the door panel—each word sharpened with ice. "I'm just after something new," he chuckled lightly, his tone thick with indifference. "Once this is done, I'll confront her." My heart clenched sharply, as if my blood had instantly frozen. The slip in my hand drifted lightly to the floor, making a faint noise. So all that tenderness and companionship had been nothing but lies. To him, I had been nothing more than a plaything to ward off loneliness. When the Nurse came in, she saw me frozen in place, hurried to pick up the slip, and asked me about it. I forced a smile more pitiful than tears, shook my head, and said it was nothing. The surgery was quick, and once the anesthetic took effect, I no longer felt any pain in my body. But the pain in my chest came in waves, each one more fierce than the last. When I woke, I was lying on the hospital ward bed, with Ernest Davidson sitting on the sofa beside me. He didn't look at me; his fingers swiped rapidly across his phone screen, a faint, elusive smile tugging at his lips. Without even thinking, I knew who he was chatting with. Not long after, his phone rang. He stood and walked into the hallway, deliberately lowering his voice, but I still faintly caught the name. Angela Woodward, the nurse in charge of this surgery. It turned out they had been colluding all along. Ernest Davidson returned after hanging up the phone, the smile on his face still lingering. He came to the bedside, reaching out to touch my forehead, his touch awkward and perfunctory. "How are you feeling?" He asked, his tone utterly void of concern. I closed my eyes, unwilling to meet his hypocritical gaze, and whispered that I was fine. He uttered an 'oh' and fell silent, lowering his head to fiddle with his phone again. The hospital ward was hauntingly silent, save for the sound of his fingers tapping on the screen. That crushing loneliness, as if abandoned by the entire world, wrapped around me once more.

The Mistress

The day I died, the rain in H City poured down like the heavens themselves were wailing, yet I knew no one would shed a single tear for me. Three years ago, in the hospital corridor, I grasped the sleeve of a man in a suit and sold myself to him for thirty thousand. Today, he returned, and I threw the divorce papers in his face: "Parker Shaw, the life you purchased has expired." His eyes red, he asked me, "Mindy Scott, do you have a heart?" I smiled and pressed a knife against my chest: "It shattered the day your maternal grandfather threw me into the orphanage."收起

I Married My Boss to Get Revenge on My Ex

The rain was pouring down relentlessly, soaking me through. I staggered back clutching the tray of carefully prepared desserts, only to see Seth Mondale's fiancée, Tabitha, disdainfully throw a vomit-stained bedsheet right in front of me. "Melanie, is this your service? Clean it up immediately!" Her words were laden with contempt. Before I could say a word, Seth's hand struck hard across my face. Blood mixed with rain trickled down the corner of my mouth. I laughed—a desolate, bitter laugh—"That slap just shattered ten years of our relationship!" I turned to leave, but Seth snarled from behind me, "You think you can run away? I won't let you go!" I spun around sharply. "Seth Mondale, mark my words: the humiliation I suffer today, I will repay tenfold someday!" At that moment, my phone suddenly rang. An aged, authoritative voice cut through the rain: "Melanie Hawthorn? I'm Alexander Oliver. Your grandmother...

The Broken Hand

When I found that room card with the hotel logo in the pocket of his white coat, an icy chill spread from my fingertips through my veins to my heart. "Vivian was too exhausted working the night shift. I booked the room for her, but the card accidentally ended up in my pocket." Morgan wiped his glasses, barely containing his irritation. Vivian, standing beside him, immediately reddened around the eyes and tugged at his shirt corner, playing the victim: "It's all my fault, Wendy. Please don't misunderstand..." True despair came from that car accident three months ago. I was trapped in the twisted wreckage of the car, my right hand mangled beneath the steering wheel, flesh shredded. I made countless desperate calls for help, only to be met with Morgan Carter's cold, furious roar. "I'm performing an appendectomy on Vivian. Don't bother me!" My right hand is ruined; I can...

My Husband's Other Wife

"Sienna, I'll be back in three days from this business trip." Jonathan Zimmerman, tie neatly knotted, kissed me on the forehead. I held the visitation card I'd just found tucked inside the suitcase. "Who is Lena Yip?" He hesitated. "An old classmate who needs help." "An old classmate who needs you to transfer hundreds of thousands every month? Who needs you to keep hundreds of intimate photos on your phone?" I looked him straight in the eye. His face darkened suddenly. "Did you check on me?" "That kid named Jesse — why does he call you dad?" My voice trembled. "What does the 'Seven Years of Love' on the HS Behavioral Health Center banner mean?" "You followed me?" He suddenly grabbed my wrist. "It's not what you think..." "Then what is it?"收起
